Wilcox's Foam Sally represents the Little Yellow Stoneflies, better known as Yellow Sally's. The wing material I created for this pattern has a highly visible yellow top side while the underside has a natural mottled look adding an element of realism to this highly visible pattern. The foam wing material also provides the floatation necessary to fish in the faster moving water and riffles where stoneflies prefer to inhabit. The CDC underwing elicits more strikes portraying the fluttering action on the surface as these clumsy flying insects take off and return to lay eggs. Fishing them in their larger sizes will afford you the luxury of imitating species like Golden Stoneflies since many species have similar profiles on the water but vary greatly in size but are often active during the same period.
